After spending a decade in the world of start-ups helping build and run sales teams, I found myself yearning for meaning in my work. Even while working in tech, I always found ways to carve out time for art by frequently visiting galleries and museums, and keeping a studio space to paint in my free time. In mid-2022, I left the world of tech behind and decided to find my place at the intersection of art and business. I set off to Paris to obtain my MBA in commercial art sales and immersed myself into the epicentre of the art world. As I completed my studies, I created Kevin Scott Art Advisory with the intention of providing both novice and seasoned collectors with advisory services that weren’t rooted in simply brokering the sale of artworks, but rather helping clients gain insight into the aesthetic and historic significance of any piece that resonates with them. Buying a piece of work from someone who has poured their passion into its creation should be fueled by the opportunity to own a piece of the magic that makes you attracted to it in the first place; to display it in your living space, to spend quiet moments pondering the minutiae of it, as well as preserve and maintain its place in history. I strive to understand the artists and their work and, in turn, provide that knowledge to my clients. Being a collector is about exploring the nooks and crannies of the art world, buying the greats but also buying the overlooked/undiscovered, and most importantly, collecting works that contribute to the story of your life.
